Rugged wooden vessels based on traditional designs from Europe’s north-western fringes. These boats echo the experience of generations of coastal communities in Ireland, Britain and Scandinavia. Built in West Cork by a boat builder certified by the Norwegian trades council, these sturdy, elegant craft are ideal for coastal exploration.
Traditional working boats are recreated by taking lines from outstanding examples, or using plans by well-known designers and museums. Bespoke lines are also drawn for new vessels based closely or loosely on existing types.
Typical construction is copper-fastened larch or Scots-pine planking on oak. The standard finish is linseed oil with turpentine and Stockholm tar for topsides and interior. Traditional linseed oil paint is often used on gunwales, sheer strake, cove line, thwarts and sole boards. Sails of clipper canvas are supplied.
